(If Developmental Concerns Arise)
At the HEED Coalition and The Basics Southcoast/RI, we understand that timing matters. Early intervention services are vital when developmental concerns arise because the earliest years offer the greatest opportunity for meaningful change. Acting early is not about labeling. It is about positioning children and families for the strongest possible outcomes.
This section of the Birth to Five Resource Guide provides resources to help families recognize developmental milestones, understand when and how to seek support, and navigate early intervention services with confidence. These programs are designed to assess, support, and strengthen development during a period when the brain is most responsive to intervention. Information, delivered clearly and without alarm, empowers families to move forward with intention rather than hesitation.
The resources shared here are for educational and informational purposes only. They are not intended to replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from your physician, pediatrician, developmental specialist, or other licensed clinical provider. If you have concerns about your child’s development, we encourage you to consult directly with your healthcare team.
Our philosophy is disciplined and grounded in evidence: when concerns are addressed early and support is applied strategically, challenges are more manageable, progress is more likely, and families are better equipped to advocate for their children. Early action is not urgency. It is foresight.
